Celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival Together — A Team-Building Zongzi-Making Event

2025-06-11

To celebrate the traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Festival, our team came together for a meaningful and hands-on activity: making zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) by hand. It was an afternoon filled with joy, tradition, and a deep sense of connection.

The Dragon Boat Festival, or Duanwu Jie, honors the legacy of the ancient poet Qu Yuan. It is a time to reflect on loyalty, resilience, and cultural heritage—values that closely align with our company’s spirit and mission.

On the day of the event, our office transformed into a lively and festive setting. Long tables were laid out with fresh bamboo leaves, glutinous rice, red dates, and various fillings. The delicious aroma created a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Guided by experienced team members, everyone rolled up their sleeves and tried their hand at wrapping the iconic pyramid-shaped dumplings. Some shaped them skillfully and quickly, while others took their time, laughing at their "abstract art" creations.

There were no judgments, only encouragement and laughter. It was not about perfection, but about participating and enjoying the process together. The room was filled with conversations, shared memories, and the cheerful sound of camaraderie.

This traditional hands-on activity allowed us to experience more than just the flavor of zongzi. It gave us a deeper understanding of the festival’s cultural roots, and a chance to bond beyond our daily tasks and responsibilities.

For many of us, this was our first time making zongzi. Learning from one another, we shared tips, techniques, and stories from childhood memories. It was a beautiful reminder of how food can bring people together across generations and cultures.

At its heart, this event was about more than making dumplings — it was about teamwork, heritage, and human connection. We found joy in slowing down, working with our hands, and celebrating tradition side by side.

As we wrapped each dumpling, we also wrapped up moments of togetherness. These are the memories that strengthen our workplace culture — rooted in collaboration, appreciation, and shared purpose.

Events like this enrich our workplace not just with fun and flavor, but with meaning. They remind us that behind every task and goal are people — people who thrive when they feel valued, connected, and part of something bigger.

We are proud to uphold and celebrate traditions that inspire reflection and unity. In honoring the past, we also shape a stronger, more empathetic future — one dumpling, one smile, one shared experience at a time.

Wishing everyone a safe, healthy, and joyful Dragon Boat Festival! May your days be filled with warmth, tradition, and delicious zongzi.
